How can we take into consideration the aural, visual, kinaesthetic AND literacy needs of every child learning a string instrument and ever increasing larger sized standard teaching groups for stringed instruments in schools?
The Musicol® method is ideal for individuals, small groups and full classes and is suitable for SEN children through to high achievers. The material is available in book form as well as kindle format (Christmas titles) for all four strings (violin, viola, cello and double bass).
The Musicol®method makes use of ‘colour and language theory concepts’ to aid memory and speed up the learning of notation, and is presented in a format that appeals to children. Its concepts are learnt very quickly by the teacher and can fit easily into different technique teaching formats.
Each piece is presented in colour format, followed by monochrome, facilitating quick and successful transition to standard music notation.
Every piece is also available in colour stave-less format, providing a gentler learning curve for younger students or those with special educational needs.
All pieces have audio recordings in 2 formats – instrument only and backing with highlighted instrument,. The instrument only recordings will be particularly useful to teachers who like to use the Suzuki method with beginners, but also want to introduce pupils to notation earlier than the Suzuki method allows. Most pieces also have words, which will appeal to teachers who like to use the Kodaly methodology.
The Musicol® method also comes with theory worksheets and games to support the children’s understanding of notation and how it applies to their instrument.
Teacher Notes, which include Music National Curriculum Targets, games and extension activities, are also available.
